The Smith & Wesson Model 65, also known as the .357 Military & Police Heavy Barrel Stainless, is a double/single-action revolver chambered in .357 Magnum/.38 Special, built on the stainless steel service K-frame with three-screw construction. It was produced with either a 3-inch heavy barrel with a round butt frame or a 4-inch heavy barrel with a square butt frame. The Model 65 was configured as the stainless-steel version of the Model 13, without the extractor shroud, normally found on magnum calibers, emphasizing precision and practical field performance. Standard features include a 1/8-inch serrated ramp front sight paired with a square notch rear sight, allowing for refined sight alignment and adjustment, along with a six-shot fluted and counterbored cylinder with a nominal length of 1.67". The revolver is fitted with checkered walnut service grips bearing Smith & Wesson medallions, a .265 service hammer, and a .312-inch combat trigger, providing a balance of control and consistent operation. Production occurred from 1972 to 2004.
