The Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 38 is an ultra-compact, double-action-only (DAO) personal defense revolver chambered in .38 Special +P, designed specifically for deep concealment and everyday carry. Built on a unique hybrid platform, it pairs a lightweight aluminum alloy upper sub-frame with a polymer lower grip chassis, housing a 5-round PVD-coated stainless steel cylinder and a 1.875-inch stainless steel barrel sleeve. Standing apart from traditional wheel guns, it replaces the classic side-mounted push latch with a completely ambidextrous, center-mounted sliding cylinder release set into the top strap directly behind the rear sight. With its completely internal, snag-free hammer design, smooth double-action trigger pull, integrated frame port for an optional Crimson Trace laser module, and low overall weight of roughly 14 ounces, the Bodyguard 38 offers a modern, highly practical take on the classic pocket snub-nose revolver.
