Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Smith & Wesson .32-20 Hand Ejector Model of 1905, 3rd Change is a double/single-action revolver chambered for the .32-20 Winchester cartridge, built on either a round or square-butt K-frame in the standard five-screw configuration. It was offered exclusively with 4- or 6-inch round pinned barrels and finished in either factory blue or nickel. Unlike the earliest models, the 3rd Change features a robust front locking lug beneath the barrel. Standard service sights consisted of a rounded front blade paired with a fixed square-notch rear sight, while target models utilized a square-cut front blade paired with an adjustable rear sight mounted directly to a square-butt frame profile. Grips were typically checkered walnut or black hard rubber. The revolver utilized a six-shot fluted cylinder with a nominal length of 1.56 inches. A key distinguishing feature of this run is that patent dates were removed from the side of the barrel. Serial numbers were applied across multiple factory locations, including the butt, cylinder face, and barrel flat. A smooth trigger and checkered hammer spur were standard.

Mechanically, it improved upon the 2nd Change by introducing internal action modifications that provided a noticeably longer double-action trigger throw. The S&W trademark logo remains stamped on the frame sideplate. Manufactured from approximately 1909 to 1915, the 3rd Change was produced within the serial number range of 45201 through 65700, with a total production of 20,499 revolvers.
