Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
First introduced in 1980 on Smith & Wesson's medium-large L-frame chassis, the Model 586 "Distinguished Combat Magnum" was engineered specifically to handle continuous firing of full-power .357 Magnum ammunition while offering the perfect balance of an added full-length barrel underlug. Combining the strength of an N-frame with the practical ergonomics of a K-frame, the 586 earned instant acclaim among law enforcement officers, target competitors, and sporting handgunners alike. In this custom-engraved iteration, the blued carbon steel surfaces have been elevated into a functional piece of art by embellishing the frame, cylinder, barrel underlug, top strap, and trigger guard with elaborate scrollwork.
This specific example is an authentic Smith & Wesson Model 586-8 bearing serial number DNL9359. Outfitted with a 4-inch full-lug barrel and 6-shot cylinder, it features custom scroll engraving over its high-lustre blue finish, red ramp target front sight, micro-click adjustable rear sight, color case hardened target hammer and trigger, and checkered rosewood target stocks with gold S&W medallions. The complete factory package includes its original blue molded plastic hard case with matching serial label, safety and instruction manual, cable lock, internal safety lock keys, product registration card, and factory paperwork inserts. An exceptional center-piece presentation set for Smith & Wesson L-frame collectors, target handgun purists, and fine engraved firearm connoisseurs.
