Introduced in 1989 as part of Smith & Wesson's innovative family of modern rimfire target and sporting handguns, the Model 622 combined lightweight aluminum alloy construction w/ advanced low-bore-axis engineering. Manufactured at Smith & Wesson's facility in Houlton, Maine, the 622 was designed around an under-barrel recoil spring architecture, positioning the fixed barrel extraordinarily low in relation to the shooter's hand. This low axis dramatically mitigates muzzle flip, enabling lightning-fast target re-acquisition and exceptional inherent accuracy. Featuring a two-tone silver aesthetic combining a lightweight silver-anodized alloy frame w/ a stainless steel slide, a crisp single-action trigger break, and a front-strap magazine release catch, the Model 622 earned a reputation as a durable, ultra-reliable target and kit gun. Discontinued in 1996, the Model 622 remains a popular cult classic among rimfire enthusiasts and Smith & Wesson collectors. This specific example is an authentic Smith & Wesson Model 622 pistol bearing matching serial number UAD6258. Chambered in .22 Long Rifle, it features a 4.5-inch fixed barrel, factory two-tone silver anodized and stainless steel finish, fixed front ramp sight, dovetailed rear sight, and original black wrap-around composite grips w/ checkered side panels. The silver anodized frame and stainless slide show crisp, deeply impressed factory roll marks w/ minimal operational handling wear. Mechanically, the action functions w/ glass-smooth precision, lockup is tight, and the 4.5-inch bore remains mirror-bright w/ sharp rifling throughout.
