Introduced in 1978, the Smith & Wesson Model 629 is a stainless steel version of the Model 29 which was made famous by the iconic character Harry Callahan in the movie "Dirty Harry." The 629 model designation derives from Smith & Wesson's practice of denoting a stainless steel version of one of their already existing designs by putting a number 6 in front of the 29 model number of the original weapon.
This Smith & Wesson 629-2 3" Classic Hunter was produced in 1989 with a full barrel underlug, a un-fluted cylinder, a smooth trigger, a ramp front sight and a adjustable micrometer white outline rear sight. This Smith & Wesson example was produced in a limited edition run with 3,200 ever produced making this stunning example desirable by collector's.
