Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Beretta Model 1934 is a compact, semi-automatic pistol manufactured in Italy. It became the standard sidearm of the Royal Italian Army in 1934 and was issued to officers, NCOs, and machine gun crews. The pistol is chambered for the 9mm Corto, which is also known as the .380 ACP.

In August 1940, Romania ordered 61,000 Model 1934s from Beretta. However, due to a shortage of materials, only 40,000 guns could be delivered. The first shipment of 10,000 pistols arrived in February 1941, followed by 5,000 per month until 40,000 were delivered by August 1941. The remaining 21,000 pistols were never delivered, although some reports suggest that the delivered amount was as high as 41,500. It is possible that the relationship between Romania and Beretta ended after the delivery of a small batch of 1,000 or 1,500 pistols model 1934 supplied to the Ministry of Navy and Air Force (MAM) before the end of 1941.

Romanian Berettas can be identified by the slide legend that states "Cal.9 Scurt" instead of "cal.9 Corto" and their own serial number range from number_1 to 40,000. Most Romanian Berettas will have (CM) on the right frame tang.
