Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Marlin’s Model 1893 rifle was a direct competitor to the Winchester Model 1894 rifle from 1893 to 1936, when with minor changes to the stock, forearm and sights, it was re-designated the Model 1936. The Model 1936 was produced in two variants. The first variant had longer tangs, did not have the Marlin Bullseye in the stock, and was made with a flat mainspring. The 2nd Variation did have the Marlin Bullseye in the stock and had a coil mainspring. It could be easily distinguished from the 1st Variation by the “B” prefix in its serial number. The 2nd Variation was only in production for a short period, as by the end of 1937, the model name changed to the Model 36, which was later replaced by the Model 336. The Model 336 has been in continuous production until the present day, and is now produced by Remington, who bought out Marlin several years ago.

This rifle is a Model 1936 2nd Variation rifle. It has a 2/3 length magazine tube, and is blued, with a case colored receiver, tangs and lever. It has a 24” barrel and is chambered in .32 Win. Special. The .32 Win. Special Is a necked-up .30-30 Win. that has about 10% more muzzle energy than its parent, but the .30-30 Win. performs better at longer ranges due to decreased drag and higher sectional density. A Williams rear peep sight has been added in addition to the rifle’s iron sights. Having only been made a short period of time, and in 2 variations, makes both variations extremely rare. We are guessing that the Marlin collectors will be very interested in this incredible rifle!
