Bryant Ridge Auction Company is pleased to present this awesome bolt-action rifle today for a penny start auction, this is the Husqvarna M38 Swedish Mauser!
This is the short rifle that replaced the M96 Service Rifle and would be comparable to the other short rifles fielded by the European powers of the era. These rifles have attracted serious collectors' attention recently and are very hard to find this nice. While Sweden was not an active combatant during the war, Sweden did supply arms and volunteers to Fight with the Finns against the Russians.

When Husqvarna is mentioned, one often imagines chainsaws, lawn mowers, and other power tool equipment, however, they did at one time manufacture arms for Sweden. This rifle was manufactured in the Husqvarna Vapenfabriks plant. The Swedish Mauser is a unique rifle in many aspects. The Mauser action dominated the 19th and 20th centuries, as just about every nation adopted a Mauser type rifle, and the Swedes were no different. However, one of the differing aspects of the Swedish Mauser rifle was the fact that the Mauser action, which was often known for the cock on open movement, was actually a cock on close movement in the Swedish rifle. The Swedish M38 Mauser is an upgraded variant of the 1893 Mauser and is chambered in 6.5x55, a cartridge that is often referred to as the grandfather of the 6.5 Creedmoor. They are prized as highly accurate surplus rifles and are very collectible.
