Item Description

Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this amazing semi-automatic pistol today for a penny-start auction, this is the Walther “ac” Model PP “Blank Slide!"

European police forces widely adopted the Walther PP and saw extensive use during World War II by German military, police, and security units. Throughout the conflict, both the PP and its compact derivative, the PPK, were carried by officers, NCOs, and various administrative and security personnel as personal sidearms. Wartime demand led to variations in finish quality, proof and acceptance markings, and minor production simplifications to accelerate output and conserve materials. In the very late-war period, the factory code “ac” replaced much of the full Walther slide legend, leaving many pistols marked only with the “ac” code and the serial number—commonly referred to as the “blank slide.” Numerous late-war examples exhibit mismatched numbers, minimal or absent proof marks, and rougher finishes, reflecting the chaotic conditions at the Zella-Mehlis factory as it was captured by U.S. forces in April 1945.

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The PP (Polizeipistole), introduced by Carl Walther Waffenfabrik in 1929, is the full-size duty model that launched the Walther PP family. Designed primarily for police and administrative use rather than pocket carry, the PP employs a simple blow-back action with a fixed barrel and a double-action/single-action (DA/SA) trigger. It introduced several notable safety features for its time, including a manually operated slide-mounted safety lever (which isolates the firing mechanism and, in some later variants, also serves as a decocking device) and an internal hammer-block mechanism. Produced in several calibres—most commonly 7.65x17mm Browning (.32 ACP), but also in 9mm Kurz (.380 ACP), 6.35mm (.25 ACP), and .22 LR. European police forces widely adopted the Walther PP and saw extensive use during World War II by German military, police, and security units. Throughout the conflict, both the PP and its compact derivative, the PPK, were carried by officers, NCOs, and various administrative and security personnel as personal sidearms.
