The "X" serial number prefix series began with serial number X1001 that was accepted in the warehouse on January 15, 1947. However, the earliest date a 16 gauge was completed and accepted was serial number X1019 on December 12, 1946. The earliest documented shipment to Browning is January 14, 1947." The numbers range from X1001, 1/15/47 to X99999, 9/19/53. This particular example withholds serial number X51535. Belgian manufactured Browning A5 shotguns like this one are highly sought after!
