The Remington Model 742 Woodsmaster is a semi-automatic rifle chambered for .30-06 Springfield, designed for right-handed shooters. It comes with a 4-round straight magazine as standard, but can also accommodate a less common 10-round magazine and a very rare 20-round magazine. The gun's design is loosely based on the Remington 870, but it more closely resembles the 1100 due to its semi-automatic action, which uses the same mechanism. Although the 742 was replaced by the Model 7400 in 1981, and later by the 750, it remained popular among hunters across the country.
