According to our research, the first 100 pre-production units of the Model 629 had a special serial number range of N629062-N629200 until May 1980 when standard production began at N748564 with a 6 inch barrel. This Smith & Wesson 629-No Dash is a FIRST YEAR OF PRODUCTION MODEL, manufactured in 1980, and holds serial number N779848.

Introduced in 1978, the Smith & Wesson Model 629 is a stainless steel version of the Model 29 which was made famous by the iconic character Harry Callahan in the movie "Dirty Harry." The 629 model designation derives from Smith & Wesson's practice of denoting a stainless steel version of one of their already existing designs by putting a number 6 in front of the 29 model number of the original weapon.

As you can see in the many high resolution photos, this S&W is in AMAZING condition showing no evidence of regular consumer use or handling that we can see! Additionally, it will ship with a blue lined and fitted wooden presentation case!
