Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Marlin Model 336 is a lever-action rifle and carbine made by Marlin Firearms. Since its introduction in 1948, it has been offered in a number of different calibers and barrel lengths, but is commonly chambered in .30-30 Winchester or .35 Remington, using a 20- or 24-inch barrel.
What makes this rifle have an almost cult like following is that they are well built, accurate, robust, reliable, and have been that way from the beginning. One of the key selling points of the model 336 and its predecessors was that they have a solid receiver top, giving the rifle extra strength and allowing for side ejection. This is something its only real competitor, Winchester’s model 1894 (model ‘94) did not have.
Since its introduction, over 6 million Model 336 rifles have been produced. It was, and continues to be one of the most popular and common rifles in the USA. I doubt there is a well stocked Gun or Pawn Shop anywhere in the US that will not have at least one or two of these wonderful rifles sitting on their new or used gun racks.
