The 4000 series is a collection of .40 S&W caliber pistols that were developed from the 5900 series, also known as the 'Third Generation' pattern. All of them have staggered-column magazines and are double-action semi-automatics that use the reliable Browning locking mechanism. They also feature a Walther-style decocking safety lever on the rear left side of the slide.
