Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The first Winchester rifle – the Winchester Model 1866 – was originally chambered for the rimfire .44 Henry. Nicknamed the "Yellow Boy" because of its receiver of a bronze/brass alloy called gunmetal, it was famous for its rugged construction and lever-action "repeating rifle" mechanism that allowed the user to fire a number of shots before having to reload. Nelson King's improved patent remedied flaws in the Henry rifle by incorporating a loading gate on the side of the frame and integrating a round, sealed magazine that was partially covered by a forestock.

The Winchester Model 1866's action is extremely similar to that of the Henry rifle's; the Winchester incorporates a toggle-link bolt which operates like a knee joint. This knee joint is flexed when the lever is pulled down, pulling the bolt back and pulling a fresh round from the tube magazine and into the ejection port; the action is then closed by pushing the lever back into position. After the weapon fires, pulling the lever again causes the cartridge carrier to move up, aligning a fresh cartridge with the ejection port and throwing the just-fired empty cartridge out of the gun.

Condition and Contents:
As you can see in the many high resolution photos, this Winchester is what we believe to be most likely New Old Stock showing no indications of consumer use or handling that we can see! Additionally, it will come with the factory labeled box, lock and papers
