This particular rifle is a Belgian-manufactured Flobert-style single-shot rifle based on Louis-Nicolas Flobert's design. Frenchman Louis-Nicolas Flobert was also known as the inventor of the first rimfire metallic cartridge in 1845 and his iconic rifles were commonly designed as "parlor rifles" for indoor target shooting. Belgian companies began producing versions of these rifles for export during the 19th century, as Belgium had a robust gun industry at that time.
