Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
A Man of Country, a Man of Faith, and a Man of War.
It is believed that America will never produce another military leader like General George S. Patton, Jr. He was a remarkable leader, a devoted patriot, and a valiant warrior. Patton, Jr. was a military mastermind who dedicated his entire life to preparing for battle. Fighting for freedom was his ultimate life goal.
During World War II, General Patton was known for his fearlessness, unstoppable nature, and seeming invincibility on the battlefield. He was a master of mechanized warfare, and his quick thinking and aggressive approach made him unstoppable. Patton was a skilled warrior and an outstanding leader with a strategic vision that made him one of the most successful field commanders in the history of the US military. It has been reported that some German generals admitted to fearing him the most among all American field commanders. He wasn't just successful in winning battles, but he also managed to inflict significant damage on the enemy. His victories in North Africa, Sicily, France, and Germany were instrumental in helping to end the war. Undoubtedly, General George S. Patton, Jr. has rightfully earned his place among the legendary figures of American history.
The Colt Model 1903 is a semi-automatic pistol that was one of the earliest models available. It was created by the renowned gunsmith John Moses Browning. Despite being called the "Pocket Hammerless," the pistol has a hammer hidden inside the slide. This unique feature, along with its lightweight and low-profile frame, distinguishes the Model 1903 from other pistols of its time. A vintage Colt advertisement describes the Pocket Model Hammerless Automatic as a "powerful, accurate, and utterly dependable pistol." According to the ad, the pistol has withstood every test of reliability, durability, and safety. It is claimed to be an instrument for practical, instant, and unfailing protection that has no equal.
During World War II, generals and high-ranking officers had to be more mobile and be on the front lines. This necessitated them to carry a standard pistol that was both easy and reliable. In the past, most generals and high-ranking officers commanded troops from afar, but the rules of warfare had changed. The military needed to equip its leaders in the field with a lethal sidearm that could be carried easily. The Model 1903, chambered in .32 ACP caliber, was lighter and less bulky than other Colt pistols like the .38s and the .45-caliber Model 1911. Its sleek and slim design, often described as "flat as a book" with smooth lines, made it an ideal choice for officers on the move. Notable figures such as Generals Eisenhower, Bradley, Marshall, and George S. Patton, Jr., were among the first to receive military-issued Colt 1903 pistols.
Many gun collectors consider the Model 1903 one of John Browning's greatest design achievements. To the excitement of historic firearm enthusiasts, Colt has authorized a reissue of the Model 1903 "General Officer's Pistol" in its original form under an agreement with U.S. Armament Corp. This exciting reissue marks the return of one of Colt's most iconic guns. America Remembers is proud to honor the distinguished career of General George S. Patton, Jr. The family of the legendary American military leader has officially authorized the concept and design of the Tribute.
