The epitome of strength and beauty among single-shot rifles. Our famous Model 10 is lightweight, pleasing to the eye and deadly accurate. Its exceptionally solid falling-block design and fast lock time produce world-renowned accuracy and shot-to-shot consistency, and the fit and finish are impeccable. Built with a vast array of options, in calibers ranging from 17 HMR to 404 Dakota. This Model 10 is a gorgeous rifle, chambered for the 7mm Dakota cartridge.
The 7mm Dakota is the smallest of the seven proprietary Dakota Arms Company cartridges based on the 404 Jeffrey case, “smallest” only in the sense that 7mm caliber is the first entry in the Dakota series: 7mm, 300, 330, 375, 404, 416, and 450 Dakota calibers. This 7mm cartridge is yet another entry in the increasingly popular caliber. Given the use of the non-belted 404 Jeffrey case, the 7mm Dakota gains an estimated 15% increase in capacity over a near rival such as the 7mm Remington Magnum. Indeed, some have rechambered their 7mm Remington Magnums for the 7mm Dakota.
The Dakota Arms proprietary cartridges are based on four distinct advantages stemming, they assert, from the use of conventional non-belted cartridges: superior bore alignment; improved functioning through magazines; increased powder capacity; and a more consistent powder burning. The 7mm Dakota is definitely a cartridge to consider strongly if the shooter wants moderate recoil, excellent accuracy, and very fl at trajectories. In one of Dakota Arms’ splendid rifles it is even more appealing. The factory loads 140 grain bullets to 3400 fps and 160 grain bullets to 3200 fps. With the extensive line of 7mm Hornady Bullets suitable for the 7mm Dakota, reloaders can exploit the splendid ballistic performance and hunting power the cartridge offers.
