Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Rasheed, also known as the Rashid, is a semi-automatic carbine that was originally derived from the Hakim Rifle. It was used by the Egyptian military, and only a limited number of these carbines, approximately 8,000, were manufactured. The carbine was designed by Erik Eklund, a Swedish engineer, who used the Hakim Rifle as a basis for the project. The Hakim Rifle was itself a slightly modified version of the Swedish Ag m/42 rifle.

The Rasheed carbine bears a striking resemblance to the Soviet SKS carbine, especially in the permanently attached pivoting-blade bayonet, which is almost identical to its Russian counterpart. The bayonet blade, which is 12 inches (305 mm) long, pivots from a mount underneath the barrel and can be placed back into a recessed groove in the forend stock. The rear sight of the Rasheed carbine has a "battle" position for short-range fire, as well as increments of 100 to 1000 meters. However, it should be noted that the latter distance greatly exceeds the weapon's 300-meter effective range.

The Rasheed carbine operates through a semi-automatic mechanism that is gas-operated through the direct impingement system. According to the Egyptian training manual, users are supposed to use stripper clips to reload the gun. However, the hot gas generated can heat up the receiver and cause burns when fingers touch it.
