Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The FN Model 1905, named after its patent date, or FN Model 1906, named after its date of manufacture in European countries, was a pistol produced by Fabrique Nationale de Herstal from 1906 to 1959. It was almost identical to the Colt Model 1908 Vest Pocket, which was also based on John Browning's prototype. The Model 1905 was the inspiration for FN's later Baby Browning design. Although Browning's handgun patents were sold to both FN and Colt, this was the only instance where both companies produced the same design without any significant modifications.
During the Attack on the Twentieth Convoy in 1943, the Belgian Resistance used the Model 1905 to save over 100 Jews from a Holocaust train headed to Auschwitz concentration camp. The gun is now on display at the Kazerne Dossin Museum in Mechelen.
