Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The United States Army wanted an accurate sniper rifle during the Vietnam War. The M14 was selected because of its accuracy, reliability, and the ability for a quick follow up shot. As a result, in 1969, the Rock Island Arsenal converted 1,435 National Match (target grade) M14s by adding a Redfield ART Adjustable Ranging Telescope 3–9× and providing National Match grade ammunition (7.62 Lake City Long Range XM-118). This version, called the XM21, had a specially selected walnut stock and was first fielded in the second half of 1969. An improved version with a fiberglass stock was designated the M21 in 1975. The M21 remained the Army’s primary sniper rifle until 1988, when it was replaced by the M24 Sniper Weapon System; some M21s were later re-issued and used in the Iraq War.

This already incredible rifle is fitted with a (C553) Nightforce ATACR 5-25x56 .250 MOA MOAR CW PTL Digillum Scope. The Nightforce Enhanced Advanced Tactical Riflescope, or ATACR, 5-25x56 scope with MOAR reticle features DigIllum illuminated reticle, Hi-Speed adjustments with ZeroStop, capped windage adjustment, parallax adjustment, enhanced engraved eyepiece, integrated Power Throw Lever, XtremeSpeed thread, fully multi-coated ER glass for 90% transmission, wide field of view, Tenebraex flip covers, and a rugged construction. Inspired by the NXS, the ATACR family of riflescopes defines Rugged, Reliable, and Repeatable.
Overbuilt with mission critical features standard which includes ZeroStop and a choice of illuminated MOA or Mil based ranging reticles. Built from the most rugged materials, ATACR riflescopes deliver benchrest precision even under the harshest conditions. Fully multi-coated ED glass results in superb light transmission, brilliant images, and exceptional color contrast. With the varying magnification ranges, the ATACR line of scopes can cover almost any situation a shooter may have. Featuring sophisticated reticles, the ATACR leaves nothing to chance.
