Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
High Standard Schneider & Glassick Black Powder Commemorative Blued finish with a brass frame. Six shot single action. Commemorative gun comes with a presentation case and a modern version of a Confederate "D guard" Bowie knife. The Revolver is in excellent condition without any scrapes, scuffs, scratches, rust patches. The bluing is mint with no rust at all. These guns were a series of .36 caliber Cap and ball revolvers which began production in 1974 and ran through 1976. These are reproductions of the Confederate copies of the Colt Model 1851 Navy Revolver. Note most Confederate copies of the Colt had round barrels not the octagonal barrel found on the Colt. The frames were made by High Standard and the balance of the parts by Uberti in Italy. The guns were assembled and finished by High Standard in the USA.

The Schneider & Glassick was one of the few copies of the Colt 1851 Navy that had a octagon barrel. Most, as you know, have round barrels.

An article appearing in the Memphis, Tennessee, Daily Appeal on December 8, 1861, stated

" Memphis Manufacture-- We were yesterday shown, by Messrs. Schneider and Glassic, of Jefferson Street between Front and Main Streets, a six-shooter Navy pistol of their own manufacture. It is a beatuiful weapon, not inferior to the Colt's make in any particular. The finish of the whole, the accuracy of the parts, and the excellent working of the mechanism are admirable. Iron, brasswork and woodwork are all specimens of skill. We are proud that Memphis can turn out such splendid workmanship." "
