Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
DART is a distributor who marks their guns. They were part of Excam, Inc. which also imported other modern firearms. EXCAM's previous importer and distributor was located in Hialeah, FL, and went out of business in late 1990. Excam distributed Dart, Erma, Tanarmi, Targa, and Warrior exclusively in the U.S. All importation of Excam firearms ceased in 1990.

Produced from 1851 to 1872, the 1851 Navy is one of the most famous and widely used cap and ball revolvers ever made. The cylinder of this revolver is engraved with a scene of the victory of the Second Texas Navy at the Battle of Campeche on May 16, 1843. Sighting consists of a tapered brass cone front sight pressed into the muzzle end of the top barrel flat with a notch in the top of the hammer, as with most Colt percussion revolvers. The Colt Army Model 1860 is a cap & ball .44-caliber single-action revolver used during the American Civil War made by Colt's Manufacturing Company. It was used as a side arm by cavalry, infantry, artillery troops, and naval forces.

This is a Reproduction 1851 Army 3rd Model, which we refer to as "Army" for any .44cal. 1851 Navy type revolver since Colt never produced an 1851 Navy in .44cal. It utilizes the same frame size as the .36 caliber 1851 Navy revolver. The frame is designed to accommodate a rebated cylinder, which makes it possible to chamber the Army in .44 caliber. The revolver is highly sought after for its rare and collectible "DART" stamping.
