Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Stevens Arms, an American firearms manufacturer, was founded by Joshua Stevens in 1864 in Chicopee, Massachusetts. The company was a pioneer in designing several rifle, shotgun, and target pistol models, and introduced the .22 Long Rifle round, gaining prominence in the industry. They were known for being the largest producers of sporting arms in the world by 1902. Stevens Arms was purchased by New England Westinghouse on May 28, 1915, and later by Savage Arms on April 1, 1920. As a division of Savage, Stevens continued to manufacture firearms at their Chicopee Falls facility until 1960, when the plant was dismantled and Steven's production was shifted to other Savage facilities. Although Savage dropped the Stevens name in 1991, it was revived in 1999 and is still used today for many of its low-cost rifles and shotguns.

Starting in 1872, Stevens began manufacturing single-barreled shotguns using the design of their tip-up rifles and pistols. The first model they offered was the Model 30, which came in 14 gauge, but they soon introduced other gauges such as 10, 12, 16, and 20. In 1876, Stevens came out with their first double-barreled shotgun, the Three Trigger Model, which featured a third trigger to unlock the action, and was available in 10 and 12 gauges. From 1900 to 1916, Stevens produced a total of 26 single-barreled shotgun models, eight exposed hammer double-barreled models, and seven hammerless double-barreled models, including a sidelock design called the Model 250. They also made a .410-bore bolt-action shotgun with a three-shot detachable magazine.
