Based on a John Browning design, the Remington Model 24 is a .22 caliber semi-automatic takedown rifle. The rifle features a buttstock magazine tube, and a bottom ejecting receiver that directs the spent casings down and away from the shooter's face. This action allows for a more pleasant, and safer shooting experience. The action can be removed from the barrel for easy transportation via a small latch between the handguard and the bolt. While holding the hold open, push the latch out of position and twist the barrel assembly counter-clockwise. The interrupted threads will disengage, and the barrel assembly can then be removed.
