L.W. Seecamp Co., Inc. was established in 1973 as a family-run business focused on Ludwig Seecamp’s patented (#3722358) double-action conversion of the classic Colt 1911 pistol. At a time when the debate between single-action and double-action handguns was at its height, this innovation produced the world’s first commercially available double-action .45 autoloaders. From the early 1970s through the early 1980s, nearly 2,000 of these conversions were completed.
