Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Wolverine pistol was designed and engineered by Robert Hillberg. He gained knowledge in aluminum casting while working with aircraft guns during WWII and later became a research engineer for the High Standard Manufacturing Company. The production of this .22 semi-automatic pistol was limited, with only 13,371 units produced between 1956 and 1958. According to company records, approximately 500 of these pistols were nickel-plated, while the rest were finished in varying shades of anodized blue. The plastic grips were available in black, dark brown, or white, with the white grips being more commonly found on the nickel-plated models. The frame of the pistol was created using investment casting by Alcoa, which was a new concept in the gun industry at the time. Today, the investment casting process is widely used by almost every major gun manufacturer.
