The Star Firearms BM is a compact all-steel semi-automatic pistol manufactured by the Spanish firearms company Star Bonifacio Echeverria, S.A., and has become widely respected as a rugged, reliable defensive handgun that blends elements of the classic Colt 1911 design with European styling and simplified operation. Produced primarily in the 1970s and 1980s, the BM was chambered in 9mm Luger and designed as a compact military and police sidearm suitable for concealed carry, off-duty use, and general service. One of the defining characteristics of the Star BM was its strong visual resemblance to a scaled-down 1911 pistol, featuring a single-action trigger system, a frame-mounted manual safety, a slim grip profile, and all-steel construction, while omitting features such as the grip safety found on traditional Colt-pattern 1911s.
