The Stevens Model 58 series manufactured by Savage Arms represents one of mid-century America's favorite utilitarian bolt-action shotguns. Built around a simple, robust turn-bolt receiver and feeding from a detachable steel box magazine, the Model 58 brought rifle-like aiming and smooth cycling to upland bird and small-game hunters. Chambered in the sweet-shooting 16 Gauge, the 58D variant offered a fantastic balance between lightweight carry and effective pattern density. Equipped with the factory Savage Adjustable Choke, shooters could effortlessly twist the knurled sleeve to adjust constriction settings between Full, Modified, and Cylinder for any field scenario.
