The Steyr AUG SA (Semi-Automatic) is the civilian version of the iconic Steyr AUG (Armee Universal Gewehr), an Austrian bullpup rifle originally introduced in 1977 by Steyr Mannlicher. Chambered primarily in 5.56×45mm NATO, the AUG SA operates using a short-stroke gas piston system with a rotating multi-lug bolt, renowned for its exceptional reliability, clean operation, and durability under adverse conditions. Its distinctive bullpup configurationplaces the action and magazine behind the trigger, allowing the rifle to retain a 16-inch or 20-inch barrel while maintaining an overall length comparable to a short-barreled carbine.
