The Taurus PT-809 is a full-size, hammer-fired, polymer-framed semi-automatic pistol designed for duty and home-defense. Chambered in 9mm, it features a 4-inch chrome-lined barrel with a proven Browning-type locked-breech system, delivering durability, corrosion resistance, and consistent performance across a wide range of ammunition. With an overall length of approximately 8.25 inches, a height of about 5.5 inches, and an unloaded weight of around 28–30 ounces, the PT-809 offers the solid, stable feel of a full-size service pistol with manageable recoil and excellent shootability. Built with practicality in mind, the PT-809 uses a high-capacity 17+1 double-stack magazine, giving it strong defensive capability and extended range performance. Its polymer frame with steel reinforcement inserts provides a balance of strength and reduced weight, while interchangeable backstraps allow shooters to tailor the grip fit for improved comfort and control.
