The Walther PPK/S is an iconic compact semi-automatic pistol introduced in 1968 as a result of the 1968 Gun Control Act, combining the shorter PPK slide and barrel with the slightly larger PP frame to meet U.S. import requirements. Developed by Carl Walther GmbH, the PPK/S retained the legendary blowback-operated, double-action/single-action (DA/SA) design of the original Walther PP family and was primarily chambered in .380 ACP (9mm Kurz), with some versions offered in .32 ACP. Featuring an all-steel construction, fixed sights, external hammer, slide-mounted safety/decocker, and a compact 3.3-inch barrel, the PPK/S became known for its sleek European styling, excellent machining, and association with the famous Walther PPK design. Produced through various eras including West German Ulm production, Interarms imports, Smith & Wesson production, and modern Walther Arms versions, the PPK/S has remained one of the most recognizable pocket pistols in the world.
