This particular Winchester 9422XTR is the Boy Scouts of America 75th Anniversary Commemorative! There were approximately 15,000 of these commemoratives manufactured in 1985!

Markings: The round barrel is engraved with "Boy Scouts of America" in pewter letters. The right side of the pewter-plated receiver is engraved with scenes of scouting surrounded by the scouting law. The left side depicts more scouting scenes surrounded by the Boy Scout oath and motto, and both sides are surrounded with scouting knots. There is no saddle ring. The upper tang is engraved with "1910 • 1985." The pewter-plated medallion depicts the Boy Scout emblem and is embedded in the right side of the buttstock.

The Winchester Model 9422 stands as one of the finest rimfire lever-action rifles ever engineered. Introduced in 1972, the 9422 was designed to capture the iconic aesthetic and handling dynamics of the famous Model 1894 rifle while incorporating modern precision manufacturing. Unlike many rimfire lever-actions of its era, the 9422 was built to rigorous full-scale centerfire standards, featuring a solid steel receiver, an ultra-smooth short-throw lever action, and exceptional lockup reliability. In 1985, U.S. Repeating Arms Company commemorated the 75th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America (1910–1985) with a limited production run of 15,000 specially appointed 9422 rifles, paying tribute to the timeless scouting traditions of outdoor craftsmanship and marksmanship. This specific example, serial number BSA11394, remains in pristine, unfired, high-grade collector condition. The receiver showcases intricate, deeply detailed rolled etchings depicting classic Boy Scout camping scenes, the Scout Oath, and the Scout Law framed in rope motifs over a pewter-tone satin nickel finish. The 20 1/2-inch blued barrel is cleanly inscribed with "Boy Scouts of America", and the satin American walnut buttstock features a nickel Boy Scouts of America medallion set flush into the right side. Complete with its matching original factory inner Styrofoam sleeve, pristine condition decorative outer picture sleeve box, factory hangtag, and original paperwork, this piece represents an extraordinary opportunity for Winchester collectors, scouting enthusiasts, and commemorative firearm investors alike. This rifle was manufactured in New Haven, Conn USA! Not in Japan, like later rifle production.
