Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Designed by legendary firearms inventor John Moses Browning and introduced in 1895, the Winchester Model 1895 stands as one of the most famous and mechanically revolutionary lever-action rifles in historical firearms development. Breaking away from traditional tubular magazine designs, the Model 1895 was the first Winchester lever rifle built around a non-detachable, internal flush-mounted box magazine. This engineering breakthrough allowed the 1895 to chamber high-velocity, pointed sporter centerfire cartridges like the .30-06 Springfield safely without risking accidental primer detonation in a tube. Revered by President Theodore Roosevelt—who famously dubbed his Model 1895 in .405 Winchester his 'Big Medicine' for African safaris—the 1895 combines massive action strength, rapid lever cycling, and classic American big-game hunting heritage. Modern reintroductions crafted by the master gunmakers at Miroku in Kochi, Japan retain John Browning's original receiver architecture while integrating modern metallurgy and a top-tang manual safety lever.
This specific example is an authentic Japanese Miroku-manufactured Winchester Model 1895 lever-action rifle chambered in the versatile .30-06 Springfield cartridge, bearing serial number JP00020YZ95E. Configured in classic Grade I sporter trim, it features a 24-inch round steel barrel, high-gloss blued finish across the receiver and barrel surfaces, internal non-detachable box magazine, traditional buckhorn rear sight, brass gold bead front sight, and a top-tang slide safety. The stock is crafted from rich satin-finished American walnut featuring crisp point checkering and a classic Schnabel forend. The high-polish blued finishes present in pristine condition throughout, displaying clean roll-marks and immaculate wood surfaces. Mechanically, the lever action cycles smoothly, bolt lockup is solid, the hammer cocks cleanly, and the 24-inch barrel bore is mirror-bright. Offering timeless Big-Medicine power in a modern precision-crafted format, this Winchester 1895 represents a prime lever-action hunting rifle.
Return Policy:
We gladly offer a 3 day unfired inspection policy from the time that the firearm is delivered to your FFL. Refunds are available for all qualifying orders.
