The Winchester Model 54 High Power Sporter is a historically significant American bolt-action sporting rifle that helped lay the foundation for the later, legendary Winchester Model 70, combining Mauser-inspired engineering with elegant sporting-rifle craftsmanship in the early 20th century. Manufactured by Winchester Repeating Arms Company beginning in 1925, the Model 54 was Winchester’s first successful commercial bolt-action centerfire sporting rifle and represented a major transition from lever-action hunting rifles to more modern high-power bolt-action designs favored by serious hunters and marksmen.
