Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Wyoming Arms was a short-lived American firearms manufacturer that carved out a brief, polarizing niche in the gun industry from the late 1980s until its closure in 1992. The company's flagship creation, the Parker S.S. semi-automatic pistol, was a bold attempt to capitalize on the rising popularity of stainless steel handguns by blending traditional 1911 aesthetics with highly experimental engineering choices. While the broader Parker line began production in the late 1980s, the .40 S&W variant could only have been built toward the end of the company's run, as that specific cartridge was not officially introduced until 1990. Rather than producing a true 1911 clone, Wyoming Arms omitted the iconic grip safety, relocated the manual safety to the slide, and introduced a unique spring-loaded ejector that often frustrated owners during field-stripping. Externally, the pistol was outfitted with highly visible, contrast-enhancing sights featuring a vibrant orange ramp front paired with a white outline rear for rapid target acquisition, which stood out sharply against the rugged, utilitarian grooved polymer grips emblazoned with the company's signature logo. While the handgun frequently suffered from the "galling" and reliability issues plaguing early stainless steel firearms of that era, it remains a fascinating, orphaned collector's piece of late-20th-century firearms Americana.
