Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Originating from the legendary Zastava arsenal in Kragujevac, Serbia, the M85 platform brings the iconic Soviet "Krinkov" AKS-74U subcompact assault rifle layout to Western sporting enthusiasts. While standard M85s rely on proprietary rock-and-lock 5.56 magazines that are notoriously difficult and expensive to acquire, the factory "NP" variant resolved this hurdle permanently by incorporating a reinforced polymer magazine well directly from the factory. This ingenious design allows the rugged, overbuilt Serbian AK action to feed reliably from ubiquitous standard AR-15 / M16 / STANAG magazines. Built like a tank around a reinforced 1.5mm stamped receiver with Zastava's signature bulged RPK front trunnion, the M85NP features a hinged dust cover that maintains zero, an Krinkov conical booster designed to guarantee reliable gas expansion in short barrels, and classic two-slot Serbian hardwood furniture. Discontinued and exceedingly scarce in today's market, this ultra-early two-digit serial number (#94) M85NP complete with its original factory box, military sling, steel STANAG magazine, and manual represents the ultimate modern turnkey PDW / trunk gun and a premier modern com-bloc collectible.
This magnificent example is an authentic Zastava PAP M85NP chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO, bearing ultra-low matching serial number M85-NP000094 across the receiver, polished bolt carrier, and original factory box label. It comes fully outfitted with the 10.25-inch barrel, detachable Krinkov conical booster, hinged top cover, AR-15 magwell adapter, green canvas sling, and oversized charging handle cap. The natural Serbian hardwood handguards remain in fantastic shape with rich golden grain, clean contours, and unblemished surfaces. Mechanically, the action cycles with that unmistakable rock-solid AK smoothness, the bolt locks back smartly via the notched safety lever, the magazine release functions crisply, and the 10.25-inch bore is mirror-bright with razor-sharp rifling from chamber to crown. Complete in its matching serialized original box with accessories, this turn-key Zastava M85NP is ready for the range or the collection vault.
