Introduced in 1933 as the "Everybody's Sweetheart" of scatterguns, the Winchester Model 42 holds an iconic place in American firearms history as the first slide-action shotgun designed specifically from the ground up for the .410 cartridge. Engineered by William Roemer as a scaled-down version of John Browning’s famous Model 12, the Model 42 is celebrated for its sleek receiver proportions, pointability, smooth cycling stroke, and convenient takedown feature. First-year production examples bearing low four-digit serial numbers are prized by pre-64 Winchester collectors worldwide.

This specific example is a extremely early 1st-year production Winchester Model 42 bearing matching assembly serial number 2062, manufactured in 1933. Chambered in .410 Bore (3-inch chambers), it features a 26-inch barrel w/ fixed Full choke, custom ventilated sight rib w/ red fiber-optic front bead, ribbed ring forend, and walnut stock fitted w/ a vented rubber recoil pad. Displaying deep blued metal finishes, matching receiver and extension frame serials, a mirror-bright bore, and smooth pump action mechanics, this early Model 42 is a fantastic classic piece for collectors and clay shooters alike.
