The Colt Police Positive is a classic small-frame double-action revolver that played a significant role in early 20th-century law enforcement, combining compact size, reliable operation, and innovative safety features that helped set the standard for modern revolver design. Produced by Colt's Manufacturing Company beginning in 1905, the Police Positive was built on Colt’s “D-frame,” making it smaller and lighter than large service revolvers while still offering adequate power for duty use. It was commonly chambered in calibers such as .38 S&W, .32 Colt New Police, and .38 Colt New Police (a variant of .38 S&W Long), providing options suited to both police and civilian markets. The revolver features a six-shot cylinder, a double-action/single-action trigger system, and a swing-out cylinder with an ejector rod, making it relatively quick to reload compared to earlier top-break designs.
