The 1969 Colt Agent is a lightweight, compact double-action revolver that represents one of Colt's finest concealed-carry handguns from the company's Golden Age of revolver production. Manufactured by Colt's Manufacturing Company and chambered in .38 Special, the Agent is built on Colt's compact D-frame and features a lightweight aluminum alloy frame paired with a steel barrel and cylinder, significantly reducing weight while maintaining the durability and reliability for which Colt revolvers are renowned. Like the Detective Special, the Agent offers a six-shot cylinder—an advantage over many competing snub-nose revolvers that carried only five rounds—along with Colt's exceptionally smooth double-action/single-action trigger, fixed sights, and a 2-inch barrel ideally suited for discreet everyday carry. The 1969 production examples were hand-fitted and finished to the exacting standards that made Colt revolvers famous, typically featuring a polished blued finish, checkered walnut stocks, and outstanding mechanical precision. Highly favored by law enforcement officers, armed professionals, and civilian concealed carriers, the Colt Agent remains one of the most desirable lightweight revolvers of its era, and well-preserved 1969 examples are increasingly sought after by collectors for their historical significance, premium craftsmanship, and classic Colt styling.
