The Ruger Mark I is the first model in Ruger’s highly successful line of .22 LR semi-automatic target pistols, introduced in 1949 and produced until 1982. Designed by William B. Ruger, the Mark I was inspired by the classic lines of the Japanese Nambu pistol and featured a simple blowback design, tubular receiver, fixed or adjustable sights, and a reliable 9-round magazine system.
