Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Introduced in 2005 to refine Ruger's original Vaquero series, the Ruger New Vaquero was engineered specifically to match the classic dimensions, weight, and mid-19th century handling of the traditional Colt Single Action Army. Built on a scaled-down steel frame with a mid-size cylinder and thin grip frame, the New Vaquero incorporates Ruger's reverse-indexing cylinder pawl for easy loading and unloading aligned directly with the ejector rod. Retaining Ruger's patented transfer bar safety mechanism that allows for safe six-round cylinder loading, the New Vaquero combines traditional Old West Cowboy Action aesthetics with modern investment-cast steel strength and flawless reliability.
This specific example is an authentic Ruger New Vaquero single-action revolver chambered in .357 Magnum, bearing serial number 510-07188 with a March 2007 test-fire date. Configured in classic Western form, it features a 4.62-inch barrel, high-gloss blued steel barrel and cylinder, simulated case-colored frame finish, traditional fixed sights, and black checkered grip panels with Ruger medallions. The factory finishes present in excellent overall condition, displaying deep reflective surfaces, sharp roll-marks, and light cylinder indexing marks. Mechanically, the single-action hammer cycles crisp, cylinder lockup is tight, the transfer bar operates smoothly, and the 4.62-inch barrel bore is mirror-bright with razor-sharp rifling. Complete in its original factory gray hardshell case with owner's instruction manual packet, factory test fire casing envelope, and cable lock, this Ruger New Vaquero offers a turnkey Western collectible.
