Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Made in the spirit of the American frontier, the Investarm / Gemmer & Clemens Bridger Hawken Rifle is a reproduction of one of the most respected and influential plains rifles of the mid-19th century, originally produced by brothers Jacob Hawken and Samuel Hawken in St. Louis, Missouri, and closely tied to the era of westward expansion and the fur trade. Carried across the plains and mountains by figures such as Jim Bridger, along with other notable frontiersmen including Kit Carson, Jedediah Smith, Hugh Glass, Joseph Meek, and Auguste Lacome, and later admired by Theodore Roosevelt, the Hawken design became known for its durability, large-caliber power, and dependable construction, earning a lasting reputation as one of the most capable percussion-era rifles for harsh frontier conditions. That same rugged character is reflected in this reproduction, built in .45 caliber with a 28" octagon barrel and a 1:48" twist rate, a versatile setup that lends itself well to traditional patched round ball shooting and steady field performance, while the blued barrel and brass components throughout the rifle give it a classic, period-correct appearance with a warm, traditional contrast.

The sighting system follows that same practical philosophy, using a blade front sight paired with an adjustable rear sight for straightforward, reliable aiming, and the oil-finished European hardwood stock with its integrated cheekpiece provides a naturally balanced, solid feel when shouldered. Built as a muzzleloading, flintlock ignition, single-shot rifle, it delivers a deliberate and authentic shooting experience consistent with its historical inspiration, combining mechanical simplicity with the timeless handling qualities that made the original Hawken rifles so highly regarded.
