The firing system is striker-fired, not hammer-fired, and the bolt carrier group is significantly lighter than AK equivalents. The rifle feeds from proprietary Vz. 58 magazines (typically aluminum or polymer), which are not interchangeable with AK magazines due to different feed geometry and magazine locking design.
