Originally developed in 1927 by legendary designer František Myška as the vz. 27, this robust semi-automatic sidearm featured an innovative push-down safety lever with a button-release mechanism and a reliable straight-blowback action chambered in the 7.65mm Browning (.32 ACP) cartridge. Known for its distinctively blocky, slab-sided profile and crisp single-action trigger, the pistol quickly earned a reputation for exceptional durability and mechanical simplicity. Its historical trajectory shifted dramatically in 1939 following the German occupation of Czechoslovakia, when the Ceská zbrojovka factory in Strakonice was seized and renamed Böhmische Waffenfabrik AG to fuel the Third Reich's military machine. Initially marked with the full German factory name on the top rib, mid-war administration shifted to using the secret manufacturer code "fnh" stamped directly onto the left side of the slide to conceal production from Allied intelligence.
