The Colt Service Model Ace is one of the most collectible and innovative rimfire pistols ever produced by Colt's Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company. Introduced in 1937, it was developed as an advanced training version of the Government Model 1911, chambered in .22 Long Rifle while closely duplicating the handling and recoil characteristics of the standard .45 ACP service pistol. Designed around the ingenious floating chamber system developed by David Marshall Williams, the Service Model Ace generated additional rearward force when fired, producing a recoil impulse that more closely resembled that of a centerfire 1911 than conventional rimfire pistols. Featuring forged steel construction, a 5-inch barrel, single-action operation, fixed sights, and a 10-round detachable magazine, it retained the same controls, balance, and ergonomics as the Government Model, making it an excellent training pistol for military personnel, law enforcement officers, and competitive shooters.
