Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Engineered by John Moses Browning and adopted by the United States Armed Forces in 1911, the Government Model 1911 stands as the most iconic semi-automatic handgun platform in small arms history. The MK IV Series 70 re-introduction by Colt restored the highly coveted firing system without the firing pin block safety, preserving the ultra-crisp, short Single-Action trigger pull that made the original design world-famous among tactical operators and competition shooters alike. Built around a full forged carbon steel frame and 5-inch ordnance barrel, the Series 70 platform offers relentless durability, classic lines, and exceptional mechanical accuracy, cementing its status as an enduring masterpiece of American industrial craftsmanship.
This specific example is a stunning custom-accented Colt MK IV Series 70 Government Model (Model O1970A1CS) chambered in .45 ACP, bearing serial number 73B8225. Finished in deep Colt factory bluing, this custom edition is adorned with striking gold-plated small controls, including the trigger, slide stop, manual thumb safety, mainspring housing loop, grip screws, hammer, and barrel bushing. Complementing the gold hardware is a set of high-contrast swirled dark faux-onyx grips featuring gold Aztec geometric border art and raised gold Rampant Colt emblems. The deep blued surfaces present in extraordinary condition throughout, showcasing clean slide roll-marks and brilliant mirror polish on the gold accents. Mechanically, the action cycles smoothly, slide lockup is tight, and the 5-inch match barrel bore is pristine and mirror-bright. Complete in its original factory serialized blue hardshell case with owner's manual, cable lock, and paperwork packet, this Government Model delivers show-stopping display appeal.
