SPECIFICATIONS:
Manufacturer: MSAR (MicroTech Small Arms Research)
Model: STG-556
Serial: NATO-0005
Caliber: .223 Remington
Finish: Black
Barrel Length: 16" Chrome Lined Barrel
Optics/Sights: No Sights / Extended Optic Ready Rail
Stock/Grips: Flat Dark Earth Synthetic Stock w/ Textured Pistol Grip and Vertical Forearm
Action: Semi-Automatic
Markings: Standard
Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The MSAR STG-556 is a distinctive American-made bullpup rifle produced by Microtech Small Arms Research and heavily inspired by the Austrian Steyr AUG design. Its appeal comes from its compact bullpup layout, which allows a full-length barrel in a much shorter overall package, making it highly recognizable and different from traditional AR-pattern rifles. Chambered in 5.56 NATO/.223 Remington, the STG-556 was offered in several configurations, including early proprietary-magazine versions and later variants compatible with AR-15/STANAG magazines. Collector interest is strongest in clean examples, early-production rifles, limited variants, original optics/rail configurations, and complete packages with factory accessories. While not as widely supported as the AR platform, the STG-556 remains desirable because of its unique design, limited production history, Microtech association, and its place among the more notable U.S.-made AUG-style bullpup rifles.
