Introduced in 1996 and produced at Ruger's Southport, Connecticut facility, the Ruger Police Carbine (PC9) was developed specifically to meet the law enforcement demand for a reliable, easy-to-use pistol-caliber long gun. Built around a robust direct blowback mechanism, the PC9 utilized a unique tungsten mass-weighted bolt system designed to reduce recoil and minimize receiver wear. Engineered to complement law enforcement duty handguns, the original PC9 fed directly from Ruger's bulletproof P-Series pistol magazines (such as the P85, P89, and P95).
